I purchased a Netgear WG311v3 wireless PCI adapter for my 545 DELL Inspirion desktop running windows 7 64x. After installing it it would not work. Free Download WG311v3 Software Version 3.1.zip for your NETGEAR device drivers, install it on your computer to update the driver. NETGEAR WG311v3 54Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter - Driver Download. Updating your drivers with Driver Alert can help your computer in a number of ways. I restarted the computer and pressed F8 to disable the driver sig. It worked great after that, although annoying to have to do that each time I start computer. I later became infected with a virus. I deleted everything off the hard drive and reinstalled the OS. I then reinstalled my wireless PCI adapter from Netgear. It will not work, not even with the F8 to disable the driver sig. I have installed and uninstalled the driver software and taken out/replaced the card in its slot so many times and nothing works. I even downloaded the driver update from windows update but that one will not work either. I called their tech support and they tell me it is not compatable with windows 7, even though the ONLY reason I bought it was because it advertises that it IS compatable in big words covering their whole box! Since it worked fine at first I threw out all packaging and reciept so I cannot return it. Im stuck with this card that dont work. Driver status says 'cannot start' code 10. I just can't understand how it worked before with the F8 and now it doesn't. Anyone have any ideas? I have a solution that worked for me. You can try it. I am running windows 7 64 bit. The windows 7 driver does not work at all for me it just code tens on me. I uninstall all netgear drivers. I then go to device manager and uninstall the device and be sure to check the box that says 'delete driver software for this device'. (try to do all this while offline, if you have connected some other way) I restart computer ( I just left adapter in slot, So tired of taking it out and back in again!). When computer restarts.
